GREENSBORO PEGGY JEAN CANUP ROBINSON PASSED away on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Hospice Home at High Point. Peggy was born October 29, 1934, in Kannapolis, NC to the late Arnold and Cecil Canup. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John W. Robinson, and two daughters, Patty Aiken (Lee) and Cindy Braswell (Randy). She is also survived by her brother, Tommy Canup, of Faith, NC, three grandchildren, Jonathan Braswell (Jenna), Amanda Wilson (Elliott), and Zachary Braswell, and a great-grandson, Everett Wilson, as well as three nieces and two nephews. Peggy and John moved to Greensboro in 1956. Peggy was a devoted wife and mother to her family. She worked at Wesley Long Hospital in the ER as an x-ray Technician for many years and then made the decision to leave and raise her daughters. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was involved in many civic groups including a troop leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts. She volunteered for the Wesley Long hospital auxiliary and for Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of the Junior Woman's Club. Peggy loved the game of golf and played as often as she could. She participated in tournaments and was an active member of the North Carolina Women's Golf Association. She and John have resided at the River Landing at Sandy Ridge retirement community for the last fourteen years. The family expresses their sincere gratitude for all of the special people who have made a difference in their lives. The entire care team at River Landing, who managed her care for the past fourteen years, especially Melissa, Lisa, Tammy, Tina, and Elizabeth; Peggy's very special caregiver, Anne; the incredible ICU team at Wesley Long Hospital; and the tender, sweet, and caring staff at Hospice Home at High Point who made her so comfortable at a very difficult time. The family also extends a special thank you to all of the friends, family, and spiritual leaders who have supported them in this journey. A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church 3600 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27410 on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following the ceremony at the church.
