Pierre Rene Debs

SAN DIEGO, CA Pierre Rene Debs, 60, peacefully passed from this life August 5, 2017 in San Diego, California, surrounded by his loving family and friends. A native of Greensboro, Pierre was a graduate of Western Guilford High School (where some of his proudest memories were as a student school bus driver), Greensboro College, and earned his master's degree in music composition and music performance (trumpet) from UNC-G. Pierre followed his dreams of working in the motion picture industry west to Los Angeles in 1985. One of Pierre's first jobs in the entertainment industry was on the television movie Return to Mayberry, where Pierre spent weeks working in a re-creation of the famed sets of the original Andy Griffith Show alongside all of the original cast members. To a North Carolina boy and devoted fan of the program, he could not have had a more auspicious start to his entertainment career. Within a few years, the "Thanksgiving" episode of Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories television series aired bearing "Pierre R. Debs" as one of its teleplay writers. Eventually Pierre went on to become a successful contract negotiator with the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG/AFTRA), which represents artistic performers across the spectrum of entertainment from training videos to video games to major motion pictures. He retired from this position on June 2, 2017. Pierre leaves behind his sisters Tina and Andrea, and brother Paul, as well as their spouses. He also leaves nieces Jeanne Marie and Marisa, nephews James and Andrew, and their families. Pierre was a gentle human being with a keen sense of humor and a profound sense of ethics. He was a 'best' friend to so many because so many people seemed to give him their best. He will be desperately missed by his business associates throughout the entertainment industry, as well as his family and friends. He was an unforgettable soul, and a loyal and precious friend. We will never forget him. Pierre was also a quietly spiritual person.
