Roberta (Bobbie) Golden passed away peacefully at her home on July 11th, 2021. Born in Syracuse, New York on June 7, 1929, she was one of 6 children of Earl and Mildred (Mickie) Langley who raised their family on a farm in New Woodstock, NY. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Chuck Golden. She was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by her children, Margee Aycock (Scott), Nancy Nolan (Bob), Tommy Golden (Linda), Bill Golden (Ellen) and her eight grandchildren, Jesse, Dylan, Katie, Shay, Isaac, Charlie, Ryan and Reid.

She was a graduate of Powelson Business Institute and worked for Oberdorfer Foundry and also General Electric in California. She also loved to ski and was a member of the National Ski Patrol.

In 1972, she and her husband opened the Mr. Steak restaurant in Greensboro, NC. They operated the restaurant for 23 years, where their employees were treated like family and where they were able to teach their children the many rewards of hard work, commitment, and service to others.

She lived a life of service by volunteering at her church, the hospital and opening her home throughout the years to various family members in need. She always put the needs of others ahead of herself.

She loved her church family and brought her children up in like manner. She loved knitting gloves, hats and scarves for kids at a local orphanage. She particularly enjoyed quilting with friends, golfing, beach vacations with family and gardening. She was also a member of Carol Belch Circle, and the Samaritans Bible study class at her church.

In 2014, "The Golden Girl" was a book written in her honor by her daughter Margaret with multiple contributions from Nancy, Tommy and Bill. "Oh, how we look forward to being with you again mom. We miss you…" Your loving children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at South Elm Street Baptist Church, 4213 S. Elm Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC 27406.
