MARTINSVILLE, VA Ronnie Clyde Bowman, 67, of Martinsville, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the Stanleytown Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Reidsville, NC, on August 13, 1948, to the late Harvey Bowman and Carolyn Dodson Bowman. Ronnie served in the United States Air Force and was retired with over thirty-five years as a truck driver. Ronnie was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Sandy Ridge, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velvet Scott Bowman.Surviving are a sister, Janice Lawson (John) of Madison, NC; two brothers, Terry Bowman (Via) of Madison, NC, and Donald Bowman (Linda) of Walburg, NC, and a special nephew, Tommy Lawless (Brittany) of Martinsville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service which will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Sandy Ridge, NC, with Rev. Mike Sands and Rev. Randy Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Sandy Ridge Cemetery on the Amos Town Road in Sandy Ridge, NC, with full military honors provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
