MCLEANSVILLE Shephard Stephen Moore, III (Stevie/Shep) of McLeansville NC was born on December 18, 1968, and left this earthly plain on September 4, 2017. He was born and raised in New Haven, CT. Upon graduation from James Hillhouse High School, he moved to Providence, RI to attend the Rhode Island Institute of Technology. He settled there and made a life for himself and his children while working for Cox Cable as a Field Engineer. In 2002, he decided to relocate to NC to pursue his dream of becoming a barber. He was a resident of the Triad area for over 15 years. Shep was always busy working to earn a living. For many years, he worked both as a barber and at Community Innovations as a paraprofessional. He later worked for the City of Greensboro as a signals technician. Being a master barber was not a job, but a passion for him. He took great pride in providing "diamond cuts" for his customers and a listening ear for those who had the privilege of sitting in his chair. He was also proud of following in his grandfather's footsteps as a past member of Morning Star Lodge #691 PHA located in Greensboro, NC. He later met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth Thornberry Moore, whom he leaves to cherish his memory along with daughters: Alexis Ariel, Amelia Lynn, Lelah Siobhan, and a son, Shephard S. Moore, IV. He also leaves his father & mother James E. and Constance P. Moore; sister Selena M. Jones (Quincy), and a host of cousins, extended family, and countless friends. He was a loyal husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and friend. Because he asked that we smile because he was here and not cry because he is gone, the family asks that those attending the services wear any color other than black to celebrate his life. The first service will be on Wednesday, September 13, at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home 909 E. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27401 with visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and service at 7 p.m. The second service will be on Saturday, September 16, at Peoples Funeral Home 707 Vinson Boulevard Whiteville, NC 28472 with visitation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. followed by a graveside service and interment at Mitchell Field Cemetery Clarkton, NC 28433. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro at 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, www.hospicegso.org.
