PLEASANT GARDEN William Norman Greene Jr., 75, was called home to God on Tuesday, June 7. His devotion to his family and firm belief in God gave him peace throughout his life.Bill was born on April 14, 1941 in Charleston, WV to the late William Norman Greene and Ann Louise Durkin Greene. He graduated from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA.Bill was blessed with a large and loving family, including his wife and best friend of 43 years, Sharon. He is survived by Sharon, his children Karrie Norwood, (husband Pete), Chrissy Cooke (husband Jimmy) and Matt Greene (wife Adrian). In addition, he also leaves behind his grandchildren (Dianna, Lindsay, Alex, Will, Morgan, Brenna, Paige, Sophie and Isaac), great-grandchild Audrey and their dog, Raleigh. Bill was a wonderfully kind person who always greeted everyone with a smile and a compliment.He was an avid golfer and started the Matt Greene Golf Classic in 1988, which was an annual event for ten years, with proceeds going to the American Diabetes Association. He was a community-minded individual who never turned down a request for his volunteer time.As a result, he was a past Pleasant Garden Lion's Club member for 21 years (President 2009 - 2011), he served on the Pleasant Garden Fire Department Board, Mayor of Pleasant Garden from 2009 2011, on the Pleasant Garden Council from 2011 2013 and a current member of the Pleasant Garden Zoning Board. He loved Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church and was an active member, served on various committees, and recently taught Sunday School to the high school youth of the church. Bill was president and owner of The Greene Group, Ltd. He started this professional executive and management search firm servicing the wood product industry in 1979.The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden, located at 4601 Pleasant Garden, NC. A celebration of his life will be at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church on Saturday June 11 at 11:00 a.m., 4834 Pleasant Garden Road, Pleasant Garden, NC. Interment at the church cemetery will be immediately following the service.Memorials may be made to Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church, Pleasant Garden Lions Club, Pleasant Garden Fire Department or the charity of your choice.
