I taught Bill in the eighth grade and, although I have not seen him in years, I consider him a life-long friend. He was a unique and talented person who will be missed.

Oh Caroline we are sad to see this news though it´s not unexpected. You both were so courageous and loving and seemed to enjoy every minute you could together. So glad to hear you have a grandchild and your mother is with you. I hate this disease. He will live on like Fred Chappell and Randall Jarrell and our friend Philip Gerard, another brilliant writer who died much too young. We wish you peace and our sympathy and love. Ginny and dargan
