GREENSBORO Willie Franklin (Frank) Moore, age 77, formerly of Greensboro and Randleman, passed away Tuesday, May 31 at Genesis Healthcare Meridian Center in High Point after battling Alzheimer's. Frank was born on March 15, 1939 in Back Swamp, NC. He was a veteran of the Navy and was employed by Hart Appliance Company in Greensboro, NC for 53 years. His employment with Hart was only the second job he ever had.Frank loved anything to do with cars and racing, especially drag racing. He competed in the IHRA Drag Racing circuit from 1973 through 1985. Even after he gave up racing you often found him at many of the various local speedways enjoying Friday and Saturday night racing.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to many.Preceding Frank in death were his parents, William Franklin Moore, Cleopal Bellamy Moore Thompson and stepfather, Tommy Thompson.Frank is survived by his wife of 38 years, Opie Michaux Moore, daughters Teresa Moore Seawell (Jeff), Misty Moore Reagan (Seth); sons Rusty Moore (Renee), Christopher Moore and friend, Paula Blaylock, sister, Ann Horner (Vance), brother Gene Moore (Laura), ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, his first wife Elizabeth (Bib) Cassell Moore along with many nieces and nephews.Regional Memorial Cremations of Greensboro is assisting the family. A memorial service will be held at South Elm Street Baptist Church, 4212 S. Elm Eugene Street in Greensboro on Friday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m. with visitation following the service.In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in memory of Frank to Community Home Care & Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville St. Asheboro, NC 27203 or to South Elm Street Baptist Church.The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA's and staff of Genesis Health Care Meridian Center and Community Home Care and Hospice for their excellent care they gave Frank.
