Albert (Al) Edwin Evans Jr., 70, husband of Jill Taglialavore Evans, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the GHS Cottingham Hospice House of the Foothills in Seneca, South Carolina. Born September 27, 1944 in Newark, New Jersey he was the only son of the late Albert E. Evans Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Kaufman Evans. Shorty grew up in Irvington, Roseland and Caldwell, New Jersey. He graduated in 1962 from James Caldwell High School and his work took him to live in Paulsboro, NJ; Joliet, IL; Wichita, KS; Beaumont, TX; Yanbu, Saudi Arabia; Fairfax, VA; Pearl River, LA and Salem, SC on Lake Keowee.

Al was married to his devoted wife Jill for 23 years and was a dearly loved Dad and Grampy. He was an Eagle Scout, avid golfer, sports car racing enthusiast and actively participated in the Walker Course Member Association as President and in the United States Golden Corner Lakes Sail and Power Squadron. Al was a member of the Clemson United Methodist Church and studied the Bible with his neighborhood couples group for 10 years.

Mr. Evans received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 1966. Al retired after 30 years of service with Mobil Oil Corporation as the Maintenance Manager from the Chalmette Louisiana Refinery and was Senior Consultant for Evans Management Company, Inc. In retirement, he enjoyed working at The Walker Course at Clemson University as a starter. Al will be remembered for his kindness, candor, accountability, humor, love of golf, passion for sport cars and his devotion to God, his family and the Clemson Tigers.

Al is survived by his wife, Jill Taglialavore Evans, his daughter Army Lieutenant Colonel Jaime Evans Woodard and her husband James of Fulton, MD; son Christopher Michael Evans and his wife Kimberly of Cypress, TX; and grandchildren Alexis, Madison and Sydney Woodard and Chloe, Jackson, Aila and Kenna Evans. Sisters Susan Evans LeWine and her husband Dr. Howard LeWine of Duxbury, MA and Pamela Evans of Boulder, CO also survive him. He leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom he loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service officiated by The Rev. Dr. Keith D. Ray II at Clemson United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 26th at 2:00 PM located at 300 Frontage Road Clemson, SC 29631. "A New Orleans Style" Second Line Celebration will immediately follow the memorial service to the Christian Life Center. Burial will be private.
