Amaryllis D. Clyborne, 77, of 1010 Durham Road, Piedmont, died Thursday, December 7, 2006.
Born February 1, 1929, in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Edna Clayton Davis Dalton. Graduating from Greenville High School in 1946, she attended Draughn Business College, and later became the clerical secretary for the Greenville County Health Department for eleven years. She was also a substitute teacher and assistant librarian at Blythe Elementary for five years, and an active member of both Blythe Elementary and Hughes Middle School PTAs.
She was a member of East Park Baptist Church for fifty years, teaching the Primary Sunday School Class for twenty years and singing in the church choir for several years, and was an active member of the Florrie McCauley Sunday School Class and the Minelle Graves WMU Circle.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Roland H. Dalton; an aunt, Bertie Lupo; and a cousin, Rene Mae Davis.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Bates Clyborne of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Kay and Fred Lyda of Piedmont; a niece, Melanie Page of West Pelzer; a nephew, Brian Dalton of Plano, Texas; a cousin, Doug Lupo and Joan Hall of Greenville; and a sister-in-law, Jean Dalton of Fair Play. Also surviving are her special friends, Frances Brown, Dorothy Williams and Kay Gambrell.
To know her was to love her, and she will be greatly missed. She was a loving, caring mother, a wonderful wife and a true friend.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 10, 2006, at 2 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with Dr. Marion Hare, the Rev. Fred A. Lyda and the Rev. C.H. McCarson officiating. Interment will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 9, 2006, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
