Bette Barnes Obituary

Bette W. Barnes

Greenville

Bette White Barnes, 83, wife of Glenn Barnes, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016.

Bette was born December 6, 1932 in Kansas City, MO. She was the daughter of the late Clarence M. White and Mabel O. White. After several moves including Pensacola, Charlotte, and Ridgewood, New Jersey, she and her family settled in Greenville in 1974.

Bette was born to be a nurturer and supporter of all God's children. She was a devoted and active member at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, a long-standing volunteer at the Greenville Little Theatre and Center Stage, and a valued participant with the Greenville Crisis Intervention Program. She was also an accomplished pianist and organist.

In addition to her husband of nearly 65 years, she is survived by two sons, Hal Barnes of Chesapeake, VA, and Todd Barnes of Santa Rosa, CA, along with 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

An open memorial service, followed by a receiving line, will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2:00pm at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, 207 Mitchell Rd, Greenville, SC 29615. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MitchellRoad.org, which benefits Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church and the good works they do, or to Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike #420, Rockville, MD 20850.
