Daniel "Dan" Luke O'Connell, 65, of 1212 Griffin Mill Road, died Tuesday March 15, 2011 in Lincolnton, NC.

Mr. O'Connell was born in Yonkers, NY, a son of the late Daniel and Lucille May Broughton Gibb O'Connell. He was employed at Praxair in Greenville and was a member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church in Easley, where he taught Catechism Class for many years. He was a member of G.W.R.R.A. - the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War where he received three Bronze Stars for his service.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Price O'Connell, of the home; two step-sons, Charles Aaron Webb and Richard Matthew Webb, both of Morristown, TN.; a step-daughter, Angela Wilson and her husband, Joe, of Cumming, Georgia; a sister, Jo Carney and her husband, Bill, of Linwood, NJ; step-grandchildren, Ty Webb and Natalie Wilson; Nephews, Joshua Daniel Carney, of Gothenburg, Sweden and Patrick William Carney and his wife, Melissa and their son, Nicholas, whom he adored, of Ft. Hood, Texas; a sister, Lucy Jenkins, of Kernersville, NC, and her children, Kenneth Field (Courtney), of Greensboro, NC, Rachel Field, of Philadelphia, PA. and Samantha Field, of Kernersville, NC.

Funeral Services with Military Honors will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM Friday at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road.

The family is at the home.
