David Fleming Obituary

David Charles Fleming, age 61, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher, N.C., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Fargo, N.D., on May 3, 1945, he was a son of the late Joseph Haley and Bernice Robinson Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a veteran of the United States Navy and a sales rep for Form-A-Tool. He was an active member of First Baptist North Spartanburg where he was an usher, taught Sunday school, and participated in the Singles Group, as well as other ministries in the church. He also volunteered at the Spartanburg Rescue Mission, sponsored Campus Crusade for Christ, and was a soccer referee. He loved the outdoors, sailing and playing golf at Cotton Creek Golf Club.

Mr. Fleming is survived by Judi Toussaint Fleming; two sons, Joseph David Fleming and wife, Louise Cathleen, of Apex, N.C., and Dr. Gregory Alan Fleming and wife, Sloan Burch, of Nashville, Tenn; a daughter, Jeanine F. Baumann and husband, Steven M., of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Fleming of Heber, Ariz., and Dean Fleming of Mound, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph Fleming of Apex, N.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Fleming.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, 2007, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist North Spartanburg with the Rev. Dr. Michael Hamlet officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. in the church foyer. Burial will follow at Graceland East, Greenville, S.C.
