Fred Stapleton Obituary

Fred "Pete" Randolph Stapleton, 74, of 25 Hodgens Drive, died Thursday, March 2, 2006.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Freddie Lee and Eulilla Honeycutt Stapleton.

Mr. Stapleton served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Woven Electronics after 46 years of service. He was a member of City View First Baptist Church and the Pruitt Memorial Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Ashworth Stapleton of the home; two daughters, Teresa Stapleton of Greenville and Fredda S. Lazar of Greenville; a son, Joey D. Stapleton of Greer; a sister, Joan S. Dempsey of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Tripp and Jay Stapleton, and Dalton Lazar; and eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Sydney, Hayden, Kaylie, Cruze, Austin, Braxton, and Hannah.

He is predeceased by a brother, Larry E. Stapleton.

Visitation will be held tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

Services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m., at City View First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The members of the Pruitt Memorial Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family is at the residence.
