Ruby McAdams Obituary

Ruby Drucilla Moore McAdams, 85, formerly of Fair Play, and widow of Clyde Cheshire McAdams, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Lyman.

She was born in Starr in Anderson County on May 9, 1918, the daughter of the late Charley and Jessie Speed Moore.

She was a charter member of Fair Play Chapter No. 235, Order of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron for six years and as Secretary for twenty-four years. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She first began her nursing career at Anderson Memorial Hospital, the Toccoa Falls Institute, at Jennie Gilmer, and for the past thirty-three years of her career at the Mays Clinic at Fair Play. She was a member of SC League of Nursing and National League of Nursing.

Mrs. McAdams was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and Senior Citizens Eager Beavers.

Surviving are her daughter, Shirley C. McAdams, of Lyman; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Charles Wilson, of Williamston; a sister-in-law, Corrine Moore, of Starr; a brother-in-law, James McAdams, and his wife, Dorothy, of Townville.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, John and James Moore; and three sisters, Charlie Mae, Louise Moore and Pauline Wentzky.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beaverdam Baptist Church. Burial will be at Double Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, 401 N. Main St., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
