Cremation Society of SC - Brown Funerals - SenecaMichael Farris Broome, affectionately known as Mike "Grandaddy," passed on February 22, 2026, in Fair Play, South Carolina, at the age of 76. Born on June 6, 1949, in Monroe, North Carolina, Mike led a life characterized by his unwavering dedication to family, career, and passions.
He attended Bethel Baptist Church in Westminster, and also attended Restoration Church in Alpharetta, Ga. Michael loved the lord and lived out his life in faith.
A graduate of Clemson University, Mike earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management, which laid the foundation for a successful career in the construction equipment industry. He was renowned as Salesman of the Year for multiple manufacturers and demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Broome and Associates, through which he served as a sales representative for various lines of construction equipment.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike's heart was filled with love for his family, particularly his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them, often found cruising on the boat or taking them on shopping adventures. His love for golf also provided him with opportunities to connect with friends and family on the course, where laughter and memories were made.
Though he is now reunited with his beloved wife of 54 years, Jeanne Broome, who predeceased him, and their son, Mike Broome, as well as his parents, Bruner and Annie Broome, his legacy of love and dedication will forever resonate with those he leaves behind. He is survived by his daughter, Mandy Cheesman (Christopher) of Woodstock, GA, and his beloved grandchildren, Grant, Griffin, and Greer Cheesman, who will carry on his memory. He is also remembered fondly by his nieces and nephew, Eydie Bibik, Kendall Hyman, and Max Hyman, as well as his sister-in-law Candi (Michael) Powell and brother-in-law Edward (Tina) Hyman.
As we remember Mike, let us celebrate the life of a man who balanced success in his career with a profound love for his family and friends. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 6:00-8:00PM at First Baptist Woodstock, Building A Fellowship Hall.
