Packer, Michael Steven (1956-2026)
Chimper, we’ll miss you; from the Saturday morning text exchanges displaying your breakfast food prowess, to your dry and, sometimes sarcastic, wit regarding events of the day and the world in general. No one came close to replicating your Swedish meatballs at your annual Christmas Party, or the family favorite, scrapple. Originally from Bloomington, MN, you achieved your dream of retiring and moving to a warmer climate with your beloved Linda and pooch, Stella. A boat slip on Lake Keowee, SC, a new music room, a pontoon boat and a golf cart were icing on the cake. But life had different plans, claiming the love of your life and leaving you with a vicious disease that claimed your kidneys and left you with daily dialysis and a shortened lifespan. Yet you fought on until the disease took the upper hand on January 20th, 2026. Mikey was preceded in death by our mom Alice Freeborg, your beloved wife Linda, and brother Dan. Say hi for us when you join them. He will be missed by his surviving family members Al Packer (father), Rick Packer (Julie), Bryan Packer, Nancy Hardman (Chris), Carol Prindle (Doug) and a host nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held in late July on his favorite lake in New Prague. The pain is over dear brother, may you rest in peace.
