Alexander Furlan Obituary

Alexander Furlan
Alexander Furlan, 79, lover of family, friends, motorcycles, Candlewood Lake, Elvis, cars - new and old - and all things rock n' roll, passed away August 11, 2021 peacefully at his home in Brookfield, CT. His laugh was contagious, one that will be remembered by all who loved him with an infectious smile that lit up every room he entered and could make anyone's dark day brighter. Alex's life was nothing shy of extraordinary, almost unbelievable. Born Alessandro Furlan, April 13, 1942 in Castellavazzo, Italy, he immigrated to the United States at the age of just 16 determined to build the life he had dreamed of.
Among many passions, Alex found serenity growing beautiful flowers, beds of roses and tending to his large gardens where zucchini, tomatoes and asparagus became well-known favorites, to name a few. A prankster and daredevil both literally and figuratively, he loved the need for speed which included his boats and the one of a kind jet boat 'Shotgun,' with an engine he built from scratch, raced semipro motor cross #51, an ironworker that helped build the first five floors of the World Trade Center's twin towers, opened the fabulous "Alex's Fix It" in Greenwich, CT where he mastered the art of mechanics and started a family he cherished.
Alex is survived by his best friend and partner in life, Margaret Furlan, children Cathy Mau, Linda Furlan Ferrandino, Pamela Camporeale and Alex Furlan, and grandchildren Carina Mau, Nicholas Ferrandino, Joseph Ferrandino, Christina Ferrandino, Hannah Mau, Anthony Ferrandino, Clara Bennett and a wide extended family. Additionally, there are too many friends who loved him dearly and countless considered him a father and mentor, including his beloved Roz whom he helped instill hope and pride just as much as he did for Alex. Alex always reciprocated the love and admiration to those close to him.
"Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine" Elvis Presley. Alex would want everyone to dream big, give bigger, and love endlessly.

Cathy & Linda, I am sorry to read that your Dad passed away. I am sure you have fond memories of him. I hope you remember us from when you played with my children at Bruce Park and visited us many times when we lived in Stamford & Darien. I hope all is well with both of you. Fran

To the Furlan Family. I am so sorry to learn of Alex´s passing. I have fond memories of him from his days at his shop in Byram. He was always full of joy and laughter, enjoying both his work and the clients who became friends. Rest In Peace my friend!

Furlan Family & Friends, My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I first met Alex back in the mid 70´s when he had his shop in Byram. Alex was a great mechanic and helped solve many issues with my Hot Rods. More importantly, Alex was a good friend with a great passion for enjoying life, great sense of humor and a big heart to help others. His greetings with me were legendary, that huge bear hug that would last forever ! Rest In Peace my friend until we meet again. May God continue to bless the Furlan Family. With heartfelt sympathy, Patrick Clarke
