Fifi was an extraordinary person -- an amazing combination of openness to everyone and everything, of insatiable curiosity, of kindness and caring, of smarts and shrewdness, of enthusiasm and delight in people, life and the world at large. She was my friend, my comrade, my colleague and pal. I'll miss her in so very many ways. My deepest condolences to all her family and friends.

Your mother was one of the most delightful woomen I ever knew. Her zest for literature, art and joie de vivre was insurmountable. I treasure my time with her at the Coffee House and especially at her wonderful country house in Conn. I treasure having been in her company. Do know I extend my sympathy and love to you.
