Even though Jane didn't know me well, I looked up to her throughout and beyond our time at GA together. To sing with her in Ireland and around CT was such a blessed experience and I regret now that I didn't tell her the impact she had on me. Between her leadership in small sectionals to delivering speehes on behalf of the group, it was an honor to share those memories and that music with her. I remember she would always volunteer to learn new parts to ensure that our choir had adequate balance and that nobody was left singing by themselves. She came back after she graduated to share about her experiences at Columbia and how she was still singing. I was so inspired by her ability to do it all so gracefully and with so much loving kindness in her heart. Jane's voice brought tears to everyone's eyes then, and it is something you can never forget. Jane's academic and career aspirations inspired me to also go into education, wanting to follow a path like hers to make the largest impact possible on our community. To know and learn from Jane is an experience I can never forget. Thank you Jane for the ways you touched the hearts and minds of those around you. The world is a better place for having had you in it. Thank you to the Watson family for bringing such a beautiful person into this world.

I can't believe it's been two years since Jane's passing. I still think of her often, especially when I work with each new cohort of Barnard/Columbia urban education students. Over the years I've listened to Though It Should over 130 times for a total of listening time of more than 12 hours. It's my favorite song of hers. Consumer Culture and Trees combine for about the same. It's nice to still be able to hear Jane's voice through her music even though the lyrics hurt if I dwell on them. I hope you are doing well amidst the grief I know remains, Joe, Hilary, and Josie.

Thinking of you, Jane, and missing you. As I watch Columbia go back into session, I remember our time there together. You were a comforting apparition in the midst of the chaos and insecurity of early fall. Always running around with a smile on your face, getting ready for performances and finding all the right exciting classes to take, getting ahead in the library and bringing everyone with you through your work at DDC. Miss you, love you.

I have been streaming Miss Anthropscene since the first releases and just googled to find out more about Jane before discovering this horrible tragedy. She was immensely talented: witty and insightful lyrics, strong melodies, sassy attitude, hypnotic production. She had a brilliant career ahead of her. My heart goes out to her friends and family during this time of unimaginable loss.

Jane was truly one of the kindest people I have ever met in my lifetime. No matter what the social situation, I remember her always reaching out to those around her to make sure everyone felt comfortable and safe.
The first time I met Jane, I was convinced I'd met an angel. Her voice is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. I will always remember Jane and the impact she had on me and others.

Hilary & Joe ... I just now learned of your horrible loss & I'm soooo sorry and truly heartbroken for you!!! ... I'm sorry I never met Jane, but clearly her legacy is --- and will remain --- far-reaching, despite her years. I also think the obituary you did was a very powerful, meaningful & very honest tribute ...

Dear Watson family - Jane and I went to school together when she was at Greenwich Academy and I was at Brunswick a year below her.
When I was a 9th grader, and I had just given one of my first vocal performances, I was feeling pretty badly about it. I met Jane on that day during homecoming, and she told me that I was brave, a small gesture that gave me the confidence to keep doing it. As I got older Jane and I took AP music theory together just the two of us, a class I likely would not have taken if I hadn't known she'd be in it. She was extremely helpful in that class, and I was really grateful to have a friend who could help me when I was struggling in it. Seeing Jane release her own music made me realize it was something that I could do as well, and inspired me on a path that would continue the rest of my life. Jane also helped me with the first workshop of my musical Chameleon, and her performance was one of the things I submitted to a production company that ultimately got me picked up by a theater in New York and performed professionally.
Music is now my whole life, and so many parts of that story would have been different had Jane not been in it. In this time of grief, I hope you all can know what an amazing person you brought into this world, and take pride in the hero that your daughter was. To say that something changed one's life is thrown around a lot nowadays, but Jane really changed my life, and many others, and I owe her so much. She was such an inspirational, kind, beautiful soul, and her memory and influence will exist forever.

Finding the words to describe this devastating loss is hard. Jane is truly someone you meet and don´t forget. She radiated joy and cared for people like no other. We will never forget the amazing memories we made with Jane at ISZL. The various sports trips, Bulgaria trip and the 8th grade musical in particular stand out and Jane played a huge role in making these experiences so memorable. A beautiful soul taken way too soon. Dear Watson family-Jane was a friend of mine at Columbia, and I had the true pleasure of being her COÖP leader when she arrived on campus as a first year student. I will remember Jane for the soothing meditations she shared with our group, the sound of her song echoing through the woods, and the smile and warmth she brought to our group´s weekly brunch meet-ups at John Jay. Jane touched many people with her joyful, present, and thoughtful personality. I feel very lucky to be one of those people, and I will miss her dearly. She was truly extraordinary in her ability to make others feel seen, welcome, and appreciated. I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope that in time Jane´s beautiful memory will bring you comfort.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I didn´t know Jane, but I was several years above her at Greenwich Academy. She sounds like an incredible person who accomplished an astounding amount in her short life. Jane was a constant source of light, encouragement, and stability for me during my extremely difficult middle school years. I was lucky enough to get to perform with her in the school choir, and in addition to being a wonderful friend, she always inspired me with her talent, maturity, and generosity. I have thought about her fondly and often since I moved away from Switzerland, and I will continue to do so. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

I had the great pleasure of teaching visual art to Jane in MS at ISZL. She was, with her persona, talent and intellect and inspirational student. I remember well her musical performances. I am truly saddened beyond words that depression has taken such a bright young lady. You are right to encourage all, through your powerful epitaph, to watch for it in themselves and others. My sincere condolences to the whole Watson clan. Jane´s memory lives on.

I had the immense privilege of knowing and befriending Jane over the last year. I was her student teaching supervisor this spring and I can say that Jane possessed extraordinary teaching talent (not to mention her myriad other talents). She was brilliant, deeply kind, nurturing of her students, spot-on with her pedagogical intuitions, and passionate about the call to teach. Having experienced a similar depression in my own early teaching years, I know how inescapable it can be. At Jane's passing, I am wholly heartbroken, but I know that Jane's life was remarkable and her contributions to so many lives invaluable. I will continue to grieve the loss of Jane and also remember the times I was privileged to see her beautiful smile and lovely soul.
