The Last Letter

Don't ever doubt my love for you,
I want you to know, it is true blue.
And although we are now miles apart,
You'll always be with me in my heart.

And remember I'm just a thought away
Looking forward to that special day.
When we will reunite once more,
Closing this chapter, opening a new door.

I wish I could be there to hold you,
To wipe away your tears,
To reassure and love you,
And wash away your fears.

But I know the decision the Lord has made,
Is for the very best.
So I'm writing you now for the very last time,
As I prepare for my final rest.

The comfort I am feeling now,
Mere words I can not find.
Just wanted to be able to tell you this,
And leave you with peace of mind.

Having to write these words to you,
Is tearing me apart.
As your father, I never wanted you,
To experience the feeling of a broken heart.

I long for the day to see you again,
And to feel your loving touch.
But most importantly to let you know,
I love you very much.

Please carry these words with you,
Wherever you may go.
Just as a reminder,
And to let you know...

That I am with you always,
Even as I wait,
Looking forward to that precious day,
When we meet at heaven's gates.

Praying for all of you during this sorrowful time in your lives. God bless you with His peace, comfort, and grace. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. XO
