Robert T. Comstock, Sr. (Bob) 87 of Rye Brook, NY and a life long resident of the Town of Rye, NY died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 9, 2023 at Greenwich Hospital.
Bob was born April 6, 1936 in Port Chester, NY to the late Leslie and Ruth Thomas Comstock. He graduated from Ridge Street School in 1950 and Port Chester High School in 1954. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
He was married on October 27, 1962 to Ann O'Malley at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester, NY and was predeceased by his loving wife Ann of 53 years. Bob worked for Vernon Schilt Water Supply Contractor as a mechanic in the artesian well business and later purchased the business in 1980. He owned and operated R.T. Comstock Inc. in Greenwich, CT until his retirement in 2008. Bob was a career firefighter for the Village of Port Chester for 20 years, retiring in 1984. He was also the past secretary of the Paid Firefighters Local #1971 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, as well as a trustee of the Benevolent Fund Association of the Port Chester Fire Department. Bob was a former member of the Harry Howard Hook and Ladder Co. #1, a founding member of the Blue Jay Rod and Gun Club of Glen Spey, NY.
Bob's greatest pleasures were being called "Grandpa" and enjoying trips to LBI and camping at Lake George with his children and eleven grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his beloved children Robert Comstock, Jr. and his wife Jeaninne of Rye Brook, NY, James Comstock of South Salem, NY, Michael Comstock and his wife Tammy of Stamford, CT and Ruthann Olsen and husband Michael of Easton, CT, sister-in-law Marion Zaffino of Darien, CT, grandchildren Kathryn, Meghan, Lauren, Ryan, Samantha, Deven, Morgan, Sean, Logan, Grace and Sarah. He is also survived by his nephews, Tom Manos, Paul Manos, Steve Manos, Peter Zaffino, Jonathan Zaffino and niece Jackie Benton. He was predeceased by his sister Joan Manos and brother-in- laws Peter Manos and Salvatore Zaffino.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Saint Paul RC Church 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich,CT.
Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
