Timothy Smart Obituary

TIMOTHY A. SMART Ð A retired Greenwich, CT Police Officer, passed away suddenly in Smithfield, VA on Friday July 6, 2007 at the age of 60. He was born and raised in Greenwich, CT, and resided in Norwalk, CT before retiring to Naples, FL. When he graduated from Greenwich High School, Timothy enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon completion of his service, he was accepted into the Greenwich Police Department. During his twenty plus years with the Department his duties included Patrol, Marine Division, and directing traffic on Greenwich Avenue. Timothy was a warmhearted man whose passions included his wife of 38 years, Linda, and his two sons David and Ryan. He loved the beach, boating, traveling and was always willing to lend a hand to anybody who needed his help. Timothy was the son of the late Herbert A. and Josephine Smart. In addition to his second Mom, Jane Smart of Naples, FL., he is survived by his wife Linda A. Smart of Naples, FL., a son David Smart and his wife Jennifer of Rye, NY, and a son Ryan Smart of Norwalk, CT., and two sisters, Sheila Nehring of Brookfield, CT and Margaret Sylvester of Plymouth, MA. His extended family included six brothers and sisters from his Mom, Jane Smart; they are Lawrence Mann, Linda Casey, Brian Mann, Harold Mann, Michael Mann, and Sarah Burke. The family will receive friends at the Castiglione Funeral Home 134 Hamilton Ave. Greenwich, CT on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 4 to 8 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 178 Greenwich Ave. Greenwich, CT on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Silver Shield Association, P.O. Box 1123 Greenwich, CT 06836.
