Mildred Frances Gilbert

Mildred Frances (Kitchens) Gilbert, age 87, of Pascagoula, MS, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born to the late Dorothy & Frances (Frank) Kitchens on October 4, 1930, in Hayleyville, AL. Mildred grew up in Haleyville, AL and married the love of her life, the late Clinton Gilbert, in 1947. The couple settled in Pascagoula, MS in the early 1960's, where they raised their three sons; Jerry, Earl, and Robert. Mildred was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to be "Grandma", or "Sweet Pea" as some called her, to her 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with family was important to her. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Clinton Gilbert, devoted mother of Jerry (Sandy) Gilbert, the late Earl Gilbert, and Robert Gilbert; loving "Grandma" of Chris (Pam) Gilbert, Scott (Jenny) Gilbert, Brian (Jennifer) Gilbert, Casey (Katie) Gilbert, Dixie (Ricky) Cain, Erin (Andrew) Yarger, and the late Drew Gilbert; Great Grandma to Cheyann, Katie, Darah, Nate, Hunter, Fisher, Colton, Clayton, Caden, TJ (MaKayla), Tanner, Harper Grace, Jon Taylor, and Mary Paige; Great-Great Grandma to Brantley and Annistyn. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clinton, sisters Colleen and Jean, son Earl, and grandson Drew. Pallbearers will be Chris Gilbert, Scott Gilbert, Brian Gilbert, Casey Gilbert, TJ Lewis, and Tanner Cain. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Taylor Yarger, Colton Gilbert and Clayton Gilbert. Family and friends will gather at Holder Wells Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, 2018 for visitation at 10:00 AM immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
