Olympia LaMattina Obituary
Olympia was born in Brooklyn, NY and received her formal education in New York City and Long Island. She married Joseph after WWII on Feb 16, 1947. They were married for 62 years until Joseph's death. They settled in Bay Shore, Long Island and raised their 4 children there.
Olympia had 6 sibling (3 sisters and 3 brothers) Olympia was a great cook. She made various Italian dishes and hosted many family gatherings including the Traditional Christmas Eve Italian Feast!
Olympia worked as a nurses' aid, waitress and sales person. Her great personality made her terrific at all these skills.
Olympia was a great mother who embodied unconditional love for all her children. She attended all events from little league, to school plays, to graduations. She did the same for her grandchildren. She had a membership in the local YMCA and loved taking her grandkids to the Y Pool. She also loved taking them to the Dollar Movies!
She was very active in church organization such as the Catholic Daughters, Tres Dias Retreats and Bethel Bible Studies.
She was a kindred spirit and had many friends. Olympia had a great sense of humor and was known for her mispronunciation of names. Once she got it wrong- it stayed wrong. This only added to her charm.
Olympia was the epitome of motherhood and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. LaMattina will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel in Snellville, Georgia. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
