PIERATT, Elizabeth "Diane" Abner Of Middletown, passed away at the amazing age of 105 ½ years, on Monday, July 6, 2015 at her residence. She was born December 9, 1909 in Berea, Kentucky and moved to Ohio when she was four years of age. She quit school at the age of 16 to work at the American Envelope Factory in West Carrollton where she stayed for several years. After marriage, and the war started, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Aeronca during W.W. II. From 1942 to 1943 Aeronca paid to have these women trained to be welders and riveters at the old Roosevelt Junior High School. When the war ended and the men came home, she worked at the Maple Park School Cafeteria, later became the manager of the Mayfield School Cafeteria, and then worked at the main kitchen for the School System when they centralized the food system retiring in 1972. She also was employed at the Bake Shop behind J.C. Penny's downtown after she retired from the school system. She had enjoyed bowling at the Sports Bowl especially in the Senior League until the age of 90. Camping and fishing with her family were her hobbies, especially at Dale Hollow, Tennessee. Preceding her in death were her parents, James Tivas and Rena (Johnson) Abner; her husband, Rueben Pieratt in 1964; four brothers, Roy, James, Billy and Bobby Abner; and two sisters, Ethel Pence and Louise Denny. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Pieratt Hite, husband Robert "Bob", and Andrea Pieratt Childers, husband Phillip; four grandchildren, Brad Hite, Krystal Lee, Adam Childers and Eric Childers; four great grandchildren, Andrew Hite, Derek Washington, Ciera Childers, and Nicholas Childers; two great-great grandchildren, Aiden Hite and Camden Washington; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown followed by services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Interment will be at Woodhill Cemetery, Franklin, Ohio.
