Family-Placed Obituary


FARTHING, Gary A. Age 62 of Hamilton passed away Sunday April 1, 2007 at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born January 19, 1945 in Connersville, Indiana the son of Helen (nee Cory) Farthing and the late Clark Farthing. Mr. Farthing was a veteran of the US Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, and retired from Champion International in 1999 after 25 years of employment. On December 10, 1977 he married Marylyn J. Brossart in Hamilton, Ohio. Mr. Farthing was a special deputy with the Butler County Sheriff's Office from 1972-1977 and attended the First Church of God. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends. Gary has gone on to glory and will now be reunited to swap fishing stories and tall tales with his good friend, Richard "Dickie" Reiter, who passed away August 1, 2006. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Marylyn J. Farthing; mother, Helen Lee; stepmother, Maria Farthing; children, Micky (Dean) Landis, Donna (Ken) Napier, Clark (Michelle) Farthing, Michael (Denise) Farthing, and Brenda (John) Futch; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, James Lee, Peggy Headley, Mary Wegman, Michael Farthing, Patrick Farthing, Alice (George) Calero, and Joellyn (Paul) Goos. Mr. Farthing was also preceded in death by his stepfather, David Barnhart and his grandson, Chad Landis. Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Webster Funeral Home 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 AM Thursday April 5, 2007 at the funeral home with Dr. Keith Gebhart, officiating. Burial to follow with full military honors in Hickory Flat Cemetery.
