Gary Shepherd Obituary
News Death Notice
SHEPHERD, Gary Brooks age 69 of New Miami passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 13, 2011. He was born in Hamilton on October 28, 1941 the son of Robert and Elma (Robinette) Shepherd. Gary was employed as a salvage repairman at General Motors for 13 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Cincinnati Volkswagen Club. Gary is survived by his children Jill Renae (Robert Chartrand) Taylor of Fairfield, Mary Beth (Chris) O'Dell of Hamilton and Gary "GB" Shepherd of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers Bill (Patty) Shepherd of Norman, Oklahoma and Bobby Shepherd of Monroe; sisters Dixie (Butch) Grover of Fairfield, Barbara (John) Moore of Middletown and Neci Mize of Tarpon Springs, Florida; grandchildren Loryn Mackenzie Taylor, Lauren Chartrand, Joshua Chartrand, Drew "Little Buddy" Shepherd, Benjamin Shepherd and Charles Shepherd; brother-in-law Tommy Taylor of Hamilton, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Kaye Taylor and Shirley Mooney. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM with his brother-in-law, Rev. John Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. www.browndawson.com

What a precious and dear soul he was. It seems as though he was always thinking of others. Every month when he paid his water bill he always wrote on the envelope, "Have a great day." He will be missed.

I cant imagine not seeing Gary out and about taking walks and stoping to chit chat with, well just about everyone he would run into. I know I will miss his wonderful smiling face and kindness of his soul. I will miss you Gary.

To the Sheppard Family,
We were sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was a good man and will be sorely missed by many. We had many conversations over the years and it never failed, if something was troubling me he always ended our talk with "if you need anything" or "if I can do anything". It never mattered what he had going on in his life he always made it clear he was ready to help you if he could. That was just one of the many things that made Gary special and why he'll be missed by so many. God bless you all. Please accept our condolences and know that we will keep you in our prayers.

I am truly sorry for Gary's family to have lost such a wonderful guy. Gary was like a grandfather to my sister and I and would go to grandparents day at school for the both of us. We always had a blast with Gary. From my family to yours we are sorry to hear about this.
