Jean Menzer Obituary


News Death Notice

MENZER, Jean E. age 75 of Hamilton passed away at Christ Hospital on Monday, January 4, 2010. She was born in Hamilton on July 10, 1934 the daughter of Anthony F. and Henrietta E. (Schawe) Menzer. Jean was a 1952 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. She was employed as a secretary and worked in the purchasing department at Champion International for 38 years, retiring in 1996. Jean was a very giving person, always attentive to family and friends; she was especially devoted to her nieces and nephews, regularly attending many of their activities. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. She is survived by a brother, William (Jo Ann) Menzer of Hamilton; two sisters, Mary Ann Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina and Margaret Wynn of Hamilton; fifteen nieces and nephews, Barb Menzer, Rob (Karla) Menzer Jr., Julie (Ken) Smith, Karen Temmel, Maureen (Rusty) Couch, Mary Ellen Menzer, Marti Middlebrook, Dan (Jenny) Menzer, Diane (Stuart) Thompson, Tim Menzer, Joe (Sarah) Menzer, Debbie (Doug) Bolton, Dave (Ginny) Wynn, Tom Wynn (Marc Cohn), and John (Shaye) Wynn; numerous great-nieces and nephews, and several great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Menzer Sr. and his wife Patricia; and two brothers-in-law, Sterling Brown and Dean Wynn. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Timothy Bunch, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In the spirit of Jean's generosity, memorials may be made to St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church or to a charity of one's choice. www.browndawson.com

To all of you I am sorry to hear about Jean. One of the best times I remember with her is when we went to NY City, many, many yrs ago. I am sorry I will not be able to make it but my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I am so sorry we cannot make it to the funeral because, as most of you know, we are in FL. It is so hard when they go so fast, but just remember the good times you had as such a close family. Glad we cousins had our get together this summer. You all have our sincere sympathy and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Today I am deeply saddened by the death of Jean Menzer. As a former industrial salesman for many years, I had the pleasure of calling on Jean at Champion Paper. Always friendly,kind and efficent. Jean was special.

To all of the Menzer family,it saddens me to learn of Jean's passing. She was a fun loving,generous person and you all were so very important to her, I know you are heartbroken. I am so glad we were able to get together this past June for our "cousins" luncheon.I will miss her.I am sorry I can't be there for her mass. Please know you are in my thoughts. Mary Jo

Was shocked to hear of Jean's passing, we were in the same class at St. Stephens for eight years, she was such a nice person , she will be missed by all that knew her. May she rest in peace.
