Family-Placed Obituary

KELLER, Richard Scott Age 78 of Middletown, died Saturday morning, December 9, 2006 at the Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born April 3, 1928 in Middletown, the son of Scott Keller and Freda (Creech) Keller. Richard worked as a Purchasing Agent for Armco until his retirement in 1982. He was active in the Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, Neighborhood Commissioner, Summer Camp Staff, and Order of the Arrow Chief. He was a member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge F&AM # 90, where he served as Master in 1965. Dick was a 55 year Mason and served the lodge as Education Officer and as Secretary Emeritus after 27 years as Lodge Secretary. He was a member of York Rite Middletown Chapter #87 and held many offices and served on several committees, receiving the Meritorious Service Award. Dick was a member of the Antioch Temple, Order of the Mystic Shrine, Chanters Unit, Road Runners, Middletown Commandery # 71 Honorary Past Commander, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Prosser Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Middletown Council # 136 R. & S.M. and served as Trustee and Treasurer of the Middletown Masonic Temple Board for 42 years and now as Trustee Emeritus. He was a Charter Member of the Herman H. Lawrence #82 Allied Masonic Degrees where he served as Sovereign Master and Secretary/Treasurer. Richard is survived by his children; Martha (husband, Paul) Dwyer, Mary Swank, Richard Scott (wife, Beth) Keller, Jr., and Molly (husband, Tony) Dwyer; eight grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Jill) Swank, Scott Keller, Melinda Swank, Robert (wife, Allison) Keller, Erin Dwyer, Megan Dwyer, Brandon Dwyer, and Timothy Keller; and his twin brother, Robert (wife, Miriam) Keller of Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Lenharr) Keller in 2001; and his parents. Masonic and memorial services will be 7:00 PM Friday, December 15th, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Reverend Brad Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery.

IT IS WITH OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY THAT BETTY AND I MOURN THE LOST OF YOUR DAD AND BROTHER. Dick was a very special person and we admired and loved him very much. My Dad thought of Dick as a son he never had. He loved to kid,have fun, and the times we shared at Holden Beach with him and your Mom are special memories. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

"Dad" Keller will be missed. I loved our conversations especially those on the history of the Middletown Masonic Temple and family. He was a very special man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
