Irma Allen Obituary

Ms. Irma Jeanne Allen was born Jan. 20, 1932 to Mary Rebecca Leal and Charles Edd Anderson in Chandler, Oklahoma.

Ms. Allen departed this life peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 in Sacramento, CA.
Ms. Allen moved to California with her foster parents, George and Mary Edna Allen in 1935 and resided in Hanford until 1994. Irma retired from Pirelli Tires and later went to work for Contadina tomato plant also in Hanford.

In 1994 she moved to Oakland to be closer to her daughter Jeanne Allen after retirement. Ms. Allen loved to watch sports, she would yell at the television as if she was the players coach. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dominnos. Reading was something she enjoyed when she wasn't using her computer. Ms. Allen was excited about new innovations; she always wanted to be in the know. Irma loved old movies because she never agreed with all the sex and violence of present day movies. She enjoyed playing Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Lingo on her computer, often playing for hours.

Ms. Allen's foster parents, her biological parents, a sister, Ms. Dorothea Cheadle and a brother, Donald Dean Cheadle Sr. preceded her in death.

Ms. Allen is survived by three children, a daughter, Ms. Jeanne Allen of Sacramento; two sons, Willie Andrews Jr. and Michael Andrews; two sisters, Mrs. Leoma Vickers of Oakland and Mrs. Betty Nolan of Kansas City, MO.; two brothers, Leroy McPherson of Manteca and Charles Cheadle of Philadelphia, PA.; three grandchildren, Jason Hairston of Oakland, Lenesha Andrews, Michael Andrews Jr. of Hanford; one great-granddaughter, Jada Marie Hairston; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
