Bobby Gene Womac, 80, a lifelong resident of the Capps Community, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home.
He was born on January 12, 1944, in Harrison, to Benjamin Bascom and Bessie Mae Lewis Womac. He married Miss Peggy Lou Marshall on September 12, 1964, at Harrison, and the couple raised their family at Capps. Bobby had a zest for life and pursued many hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid HAM radio enthusiast (W5ONE), a loyal follower of NASCAR, and dedicated practitioner of Taekwondo. Bobby also found solace in the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. He had a passion for rebuilding cars, which brought him both pleasure and pride. Above all, Bobby cherished his family, finding his greatest happiness in the love and laughter shared with his grandchildren. His deep love for his family was evident in the unconditional support and care he provided throughout his life. Professionally, Bobby served as a truck driver for most of his career. He dedicated his hard work and loyalty to companies such as Garrion Motor Freight, Chief, Pace, and Hicks Trucking before enjoying his retirement. Bobby Gene Womac leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts and memories. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy (Lois) Stewart.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy Womac of Capps; two daughters, Leshia Michelle Anderson of Harrison and Donna Beth Russell of Harrison; three grandchildren, Whitney (Brad) Rocole, Kurt (Ashley) Anderson, and Kelsey (Robbie) Evans, all of Harrison; six great-grandchildren, Hadley Rae Anderson, Ruby Rocole, Cash Anderson, Cooper Evans, Kolt Anderson, and Ford Anderson; numerous nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at York Cemetery at Bergman, with the Rev. Tollie J. Sutterfield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Kurt Anderson, Robbie Evans, Lyle Hodges, John Jackson, Jimmy May, and Rick Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be employes of Legacy Hospice.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 on Friday, May 17th, at the funeral home.
