Al challenged the "system" when he appeared on the Women's OB ward at Hartford Hospital-June 10th 1968! He was dressed in a dark suit, top coat and hat ( it was 90 + degrees outside)!!! He promptly wheeled me down to the nursery to view my new baby, whom I had not yet seen!
Only a mother could have totally understood the courage it took for this young black man to venture into the predominantly white woman's maternity ward just to view her new baby daughter!
Al Floyd stayed connected to both me and my baby girl- now an ARNP in Hopkinton, N.H. and we planned to visit when he next drove the 95 corridor with his family!
I loved Al Floyd!!! He was and is a great blessing to me, now and always !!!
Too soon gone!
With love to his family,
Judi

Al Floyd, dressed in a hat, top coat, and suit wheeled me down to see my new baby girl at Hartford Hospital on the morning of June 10th, 1968!!!He was always a hero to me, and I loved him dearly!!!I was a young faculty wife at that time...Race riots in Hartford were prevalent, but Al negotiated with caution and care! He is sorely missed!!!, He set the tone for young black students at a primarily white private school before true integration existed.
LOVE YOU FOREVER, AL FLOYD!!!!
