TOMPKINS, Aldea (Bourgeois) Aldea (Bourgeois) Arsenault Tompkins, of Newington passed peacefully from this life to a new life on Sunday (January 30, 2005). She was the widow of the late Albert Arsenault and Grenville Tompkins. Born in New Bedford, MA on December 27, 1906 she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Anne (Gallant) Bourgeois. She lived in Hartford, and later in East Hartford and Palm Harbor, FL. Aldea worked at various assembly plants in the Hartford area including Arrow, Hart & Haggaman, Underwood, Royal and Colt. She also worked for Travelers Insurance and was a home health aide for the White Angles. She is survived by four children, Jean Desjardins and her husband Victor, of Windsor, Donald Arsenault and his wife Joyce, of Leesburg, FL, Anita Piacenta and her husband Louis, of East Hartford and Andrew Arsenault of Farmington; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two sisters Alice Lepine of Wethersfield and Doris Laliberte and her husband Edmond of East Hartford; three step children, Janet and her husband Noel Preston of Somers, Grenville Tompkins, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Ft. Myers, FL, and Bruce Tompkins and his wife Susan of Brookfield; two step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Beside her husbands she was predeceased by six sisters and a brother. She will be remembered for her generosity and fun loving ways. An avid card player she enjoyed set back and pinochle and played until six months ago. Aldea's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Jefferson House in Newington for all their support and many kindnesses. Relatives and friends may gather at the Callahan Funeral Home, 1602 Main Street, East Hartford, on Thursday, February 3, at 11 a.m. for a procession to St. Mary's Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Committal services will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Red Cross, Tsunami Relief Fund, 209 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06032 or a charity of your choice.
