So sad to come across this sad news. My brother, James Grace, the same age, died a month before him. They met when they attended different high schools, but worked as busboys at the Clam Box Restaurant in Wethersfield, CT. AL was over the house all the time and also felt like a way cool older brother. I remember his '64 Chevelle convertible followed by the black "boat" '58 Chevy Impala. They shared their musical talent and teasesd me as older brothers do. Al would then stand up for my brother's wedding in 1975. So heart warming remembering him.

I spent not much time with him but I know he was a great man and at the awake there were thousands of people there and that means a lot to me and I will miss him,

TO: Ginny and Family
Our cousin Patty e-mailed me this very sad news! Alex is a younger cousin on my father's side. I was close to his Mom & Dad when I lived in Rocky Hill. In fact I still have the dinner flatware that Uncle Al & Aunt Mary gave me as a wedding present 51 years ago! What an extraordinary person Alex became! His commitment and dedication to community service and family is exemplary. I regret the distance resulting in yearly Christmas letter and card exchanges. I feel your loss and hope you are comforted by thoughts and prayers from all who know him.

My sincere Sympathy goes out to the Edgar Family at this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Al for many years on third shift at EB. We spent many a night arguing about Sports, talking about Family and Music ( Canned Heat). I enjoyed the few times we got together after we retired. Al, I will miss you my Friend. God bless you and your family.

I am shocked and dismayed to hear of my friend's death. Al was not only a man of the highest character but one of the most genuinely kind, interesting, and original people I have ever known. His love of playing and listening to a wide range of music stayed with him his entire life. He took great pleasure in performing with the Gearheads and introducing friends and family to his library of songs they would never have heard otherwise. Al brought civility and common sense to any occasion setting an example for the rest of us to follow. As a man of faith, Al would not have said that he was given too short a life to live but rather the one he deserved. Also as a man of faith, I wish it had been longer. My prayers go out to Virginia and all of Al's family.

What united Al and I besides being graduates of the class of 1970 from RHHS was the summers at the beach where our families both had summer homes. It was great joy to go down memory lane with Al about all we encountered there. We laughed and laughed. But the thing about Al that I will never forget was his ability to openly share himself with others and his kindness. He was always there for you no matter what - an ear to listen to you, an offering of sage advice, a song to cheer you and his loyalty to everyone his family, his friends and even strangers. When I hurt my knee, he told me of the miraculous healing he got when he went on a trip. When I was troubled about my husband's illness, he offered kind advice, which I followed. And ohh, how he loved Ginny. I think that's something; to be able to love with such fierceness! He had that for each one of us. Goodbye Al.....until we meet again.
