SCHUH, Alice T. Alice (Torno) Schuh, 78 of Manchester, loving wife for 55 years of Waldemar Schuh, died Wednesday (May 31, 2006) at her home. Born in Friedenslust, Poland January 27, 1928, daughter of Gottlieb and Lydia (Langhof) Torno, Alice was raised in Poland and survived many hardships during and after the war before coming to Manchester with her husband in 1952. She was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Manchester, and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Family gatherings always featured her homemade specialties filled with love. Along with her husband she is survived by two sons, Carl Schuh and his fiancée Colleen Brand of Andover, and Harry Schuh and his wife Carol of Harwinton; two grandchildren, Erin Schuh and Kyle Schuh; a sister, Olga Krause in Germany. Alice was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester. Funeral services will be held Monday June 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 112 Cooper Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Friends may call at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester Sunday June 4 from 2-4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Ev.
