Dr. Andrew Vernon Basile

Dr. Andrew Vernon Basile, 68, of Plainville, passed away on Saturday, (September 8, 2001). He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace (Platt) Basile. He was born in Torrington on December 7, 1932, the son of the late Andrew Vito and Grace (Sica) Basile. He was a graduate of Suffield Academy, the University of Connecticut and Temple University School of Dentistry. He was a U.S. Navy Corpsman, serving in the Korean Conflict. After moving to Plainville in 1961, he began his private general dental practice, and was joined by his partner, Dr. Francis P. Camp, in 1974. He retired in 1985, after 25 years of practice. He was a member of the American Dental and Connecticut Dental Associations. Andrew was a member and past chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as several other local civic organizations, and was a member of Chippanee Country Club for over 40 years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, woodworking and painting. He is survived by a daughter, Patte Basile; and a granddaughter, Krystle Basile, both of Plainville; a brother, Francis Basile of Pittsburg, PA; his godparents, Mary and Frank Cetra of Torrington; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; as well as many beloved friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Jackie Basile. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Andrew's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
