WIKNIK, Arthur B., Sr.
Arthur B. Wiknik, Sr., 90, of Higganum, beloved husband of Mildred (Richards) Wiknik, died on Friday, (April 5, 2013), at Middlesex Hospital. Art and Millie were married for 66 years. He was born in Middletown, son of the late Ludwig and Adela (Schultz) Wiknik. Prior to his retirement, Arthur was employed with Russell Company and later with CT Valley Hospital. Art is survived by his children Diane Andrews, Arthur Wiknik, Jr. and wife Betty-Jane, Janice Kadrle and husband Bob, Gerald Wiknik, all of Higganum; a sister, Gertrude Zanelli of Higganum and her sons; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Harry and Henry Wiknik; sisters, Martha Schraft, Evelyn Erdman, and Elsie Kleinschmidt. He enjoyed Maine vacations with family and friends, was an avid hunter, snowmobiler, cross country traveler, card player and also enjoyed casino bingo.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial will be in Burr District Cemetery, Higganum. Bearers are David, Richard, Donald, Mark & Scott Zanelli, Kevin & Brendan Wiknik and Rob Kadrle. Honorary bearers are Bud Burr and Tom Novak. Friends may call prior to the service from 12-2 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Haddam Volunteer Fire Dept.
