Audrey Baggott Obituary

BAGGOTT, Audrey Rita Audrey Rita Baggott of East Granby, a former resident of Ridgefield, died at home on December 8, 2008. She was 92 years old and the widow of Thomas E. Baggott, Sr. Mrs. Baggott was born in Bronx, N.Y. on February 26, 1916, the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Maloney. She was a graduate of Hunter College in New York City. She was a substitute teacher for the Ridgefield public schools and also gave tirelessly of her time as a volunteer with the Fresh Air Fund. She was an accomplished artist. One of her award-winning landscape paintings was exhibited in the window of Gimbel's department store in Manhattan. The Baggotts moved to Ridgefield around 1950 and acquired the Mortimer C. Keeler farm on Nod Road which they operated thereafter. They also ran Heritage Farms, a retail outlet at Route 7 & 35 in Ridgefield. Mr. & Mrs. Baggott moved to Heritage Village, Southbury, in 1980. In 2001, Mrs. Baggott moved to Granite Hills in Hallowell, ME and in 2008 moved to East Granby. Mrs. Baggott is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Baggott, Jr. of East Granby, Peter D. Baggott, of East Windsor, and Brian B. Baggott, of Manchester, ME, 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Craig W. Baggott, and a grandson, Craig Whiting Baggott. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmington Valley VNA, 8 Mill Lane, Simsbury, CT 06070. Carmon Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
