Austin Scanlon Obituary

SCANLON, Austin Charles "Bud" Austin Charles (Bud) Scanlon, 78, of Glastonbury, died peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, (January 20, 2007) surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his loving wife of 55 years, Vivian C. (Smith) Scanlon, his five sons, Michael Scanlon and his wife Linda of Ashford; Steven Scanlon and his wife Corrine of Vernon; Edward Scanlon and his significant other, Marilyn of Glastonbury; Donald Scanlon and his wife, Joann of Glastonbury; Timothy Scanlon and his wife, Annie of Franklin and his two daughters, Loreen Adams and her husband, Jeffrey of Portland; Karen Mattice and her husband, Jeffrey of Enfield; as well as his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Scanlon of Long Island, NY; Elizabeth Waldie of Glastonbury; Madeline Scanlon of Newington; and Patricia Kelly of Florida; 15 loving grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, John and Charles Scanlon and two sisters, Ann and Virginia. Vivian would like to thank her friends at Our Lady of Peace Bingo for their support and a special thank you to Father Noch for his support. Bud enjoyed many years of working Bingo at Our Lady of Peace Church and also was a member of the Bonsai Society. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 9:45 a.m. from Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave, Glastonbury followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Rd, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17 Wickham Rd., Glastonbury. Austin's family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. The Scanlon family requests, in lieu of flowers, and that memorial donations be made in Austin's name to either The Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, c/o Radiation Oncology Department, 80 Seymour St, Hartford, CT, 06102 or Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Rd, East Hartford, CT, 06118.
