CRONIN, Barbara A. Barbara A. Cronin, 83, formerly of Simsbury, died Friday, (December 1, 2006) at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, East Hartford. She was born October 29, 1923 in Ilion, NY, daughter of the late Daniel F. and Marguerite (Ryan) Cronin. Ms. Cronin was Secretary and Treasurer at Gypsum Constructors of New England in Simsbury for 26 years until her retirement. Barbara was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Simsbury. She is survived by a sister, Theresa Sohacki of Vernon; five nieces, Andrea and Beth Sohacki, both of Manchester, Kristin and Gregg Irvine of Cromwell, Kathleen Francke of Kentucky, Beth and Peter Banwell of Michigan; two nephews, Timothy Cronin of Colorado and Dan and Susie Cronin of Florida; a sister-in-law Nancy Cronin of Michigan; five great-nephews, Jack and Cameron Irvine, Sam Cronin, and Patrick and Ryan Banwell and many cousins. She also leaves her many close friends at Riverside. She was predeceased by her sister, Rita Cronin and her brother Francis Cronin. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, TODAY, December 4, 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 5, 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Drive, West Simsbury. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, C/O Scott Emmons, 745 Main St. East Hartford, CT 06108. We would like to thank CT VNA for their support and guidance over the past month. The family would especially like to acknowledge and give gratitude to the many special people at Riverside who loved and cared for Barbara for the past eleven years. We, Barbara's family, have also been blessed by your love and compassion. Riverside was truly Barbara's home.

I will miss Barbara a great deal. We shared a love of books over the years at Riverside and had a lot of fun comparing notes after reading them. I'm very happy I had an opportunity to know her.

I have known Barbara for the 11 years she was a resident at Riverside. She was a great asset to have as a resident volunteer, She took great pride in helping with programs.She had many friends and will be missed by all.

Barbara was a terrific person who always made me feel like part of the family. My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Cronin family...you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Barbara from Riverside. My mom is a resident there and became friends with Barbara at Pokeno games.
Barbara was such a joy. Always smiling and upbeat. We will miss her immensely !
