Barbara D'Amore Obituary

12/03/1950 – 12/06/2020 Barbara Chiarillo D'Amore, beloved wife of 47 years of Michael A. D'Amore, entered into her eternal reward. The daughter of the late Nicholas J. and Lillian (Derby) Chiairillo, she graduated in 1968 from Northwest Catholic High School. Barbara received her nursing degree from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. She went on to pass her Connecticut State Nursing Boards, achieving her dream of following in her beloved Aunt Eileen's footsteps and becoming a Registered Nurse. With her siblings and cousins, Barbara enjoyed her childhood summers at Black Point Beach where escapades and fun with boating, swimming and water skiing abounded. An avid puzzle solver, she enjoyed time with her grandchildren, cruises, camping, card and board games, and the company of her many dogs through the years. She was a communicant of St. James Church, having resided in Rocky Hill for many years. In addition to her husband, Barbara leaves her children, Eileen M. D'Amore and her partner Linkford Orender of Kernersville, NC, and her son Christopher M. D'Amore and his wife MaryTrini of East Hartford, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren Morelby, Nicholas, Jisela, Samuel, Lillian and MariAnna D'Amore, all of East Hartford, who brought much joy and light into her life. Barbara also leaves her sisters, Mary C. Controvillas and her husband Brion Controvillas of Waldoboro, ME, and Elaine M. Chiarillo and her partner Gary Santimor of Middlebury, VT as well as six nieces and nephews, several cousins and all of their families. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother Francis D. Chiarillo (Mirna R. Chiarillo), and her sister Ann C. Fogarty (Stephen Fogarty). Funeral services for our wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend will be held at a future time. Memorial donations in Barbara's honor may be made to the Rocky Hill Food Pantry, making checks payable to "Town of Rocky Hill" and mailed to Human Services, 699 Main Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I am remembering a lovely experience from years ago. The Bandstand Quartet was singing at the CT Trolley Museum, Mike and Barbara were there with their little dog. And while the guys were singing, Barbara and I were cracking jokes to each other , laughing and laughing. Such a loving wife and mother. A true woman of Faith. Greatly missed

It has been a year since she passed, but I still I still miss my cousin Barbara. Tomorrow will mark a year and I plan on drinking a couple of single malts in her honor. Love you cousin.

As a long time member of the Bandstand Barbershop Quartet wives, we all loved Barbara. She raised wonderful
children, enjoyed her beautiful grandchildren, and was a loving, giving person, and walked with the Lord.
Rest in Peace Eternal.

When I first married into the Chiarillo family, I did not know how big it was and how close everyone was to each other, boy did I find out. I was welcomed into the family by all, from Mom and Dad to Aunts, Uncles and all the cousins. Pregnant with my first one, Barbara hadn't taken the nursing boards yet, but she was a good support. When in labor, I decided I was to tired to push and can still remember her saying, "Oh shut up and push". In 1982, I decided to become an EMT and she helped with a lot of encouragement. She was an asset to the Nursing Profession and family. May she RIP.

Going to miss you, cousin. I remember the last time we were together when you and Mike came to visit. It was a great time with rides in the desert and long talks about about family and friends. I know you are in a better place now and I know you are preparing places for the rest of us. So.,.... it's just goodbye for now. Love and miss you ❤
