Blanche Hare Obituary

HARE, Blanche Marie (Bouvier) Blanche Marie (Bouvier) Hare passed over peacefully on Thursday (August 20, 2009) at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a brief stay at Crestfield Rehabilitation Center in Manchester. She was predeceased in January of this year by Harold, her loving husband of 60 years. Blanche was born in Burrillville, RI on February 5, 1923 daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Robert) Bouvier. She was raised in Hartford and attended St. Anne's School and Hartford Public High School. After marrying in 1948, she and Harold resided in Manchester for 55 years. Blanche was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her three children and their families, daughter Carol Ann of East Hampton; sons, Alton and his wife Christine of Manchester, Daniel and his wife Jean of Manchester; six grandchildren, James Randall and his wife Kimberly of East Hampton, Emily Favale and her husband Mark of Portland, Scott Hare of Manchester, Stacey Hare of Vernon, and Alex and Kevin Hare of Manchester. She leaves six great grandchildren, Kayla, Abigail, William, Sophie, Alesha and Valerie. She also leaves two siblings, Robert J Bouvier and his wife Collette of West Hartford and Lucille Kelly of Fort Pierce, FL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a brother Norman and a sister Sr. Claire Bouvier (Sr. Lucille Joseph) with whom she shared a special bond. She was also very close to her next door neighbors on Coleman Rd. the LeBlanc family and the Parsons family, with whom she shared many wonderful memories. Blanche took great pride in her home and her gardens and enjoyed crafts and bowling. In her senior years she was a champion bowler. She enjoyed entertaining and countless parties were hosted by the Hares for special occasions. Blanche always like being "on the go" and for several years she and Harold spent the month of January in Florida with friends and family members. Blanche's children would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Crestfield Rehabilitation Center, especially Missi for "Memere's" loving care in the last few months as she was gradually overcome by Alzheimer's disease. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crestfield Rehabilitation Center, 565 Vernon St., Manchester, CT 06040 or the Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Rd., Kensington, CT 06037. Another great loss in our family mosaic. Blanche and Harold were always wonderful to me. They were people with much love and cheer to share. They went out of their way to lend assistance and guidance to me when I needed help. They shall be missed. Requiescat in pace. They are together again, waiting for us with Our Lord.

Blanche and Harold ... it was like one word, one name. I loved them both. They were always gracious and smiling and making one feel special and welcome. It was through my grandmother, Verna Hare, that I came to know everyone in the Hare family and always felt a strong connection to all of the sisters and brothers and all their descendents. It is so sad that their generation is passing away. But out memories of them will always be joyful and loving. My sincerest condolances to all of you.
