Gail,
I just learned of Brian's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. What a strange coincidence that we both find ourselves in the same situation in less than two months. Shane and Brian are probably together now having a few laughs. Take care of yourself and God be with you.
Sincerely,
Linda

The following eulogy was delivered
at the memorial service amd Mass
on May 23,2002 by Tony Opalski, friend and colleague from Spherion at IBM
Brian Keevers Eulogy 5/23/02
Four years ago many of us first came to know Brian
as he joined us here in Atlanta
Intelligent, unflappable, even handed and fair were qualities
that combined with a wonderful sense of humor
All were qualities that produced a great manager, colleague and
more importantly, a friend
Over the past several years, a group of us met almost daily to share
lunch together....lunches that were filled with the latest stories,
and examples of malapropisms...all leading to a lot of laughter
Did I mention Brian's sense of humor?
There wasn't a day when we weren't chuckling, and laughing
and leaving that lunch feeling a lot better.
That would be about the time we'd get on the elevator, and
Brian's cell phone, that he carried in his shirt pocket,
would begin to 'beep' due to a weak battery,
He'd calmy announce, as he got off the elevator,
that his 'pacemaker battery was going'
much to the consternation of those remaining on the elevator
...as the door closed
Did I mention Brian had a sense of humor?
Well, it appears that God wanted Brian to share that humor at a higher level
and I'm sure he's doing that right now.
Many years ago as an altar boy in Pennsylvania,
or perhaps as Brian might remind me... 'Many, many, many years
ago,as an altar boy in Pennsylvania, priests wore black vestments
at funeral masses reflecting the somber nature of the service.
That has changed over time and now white vestments
celebrating life are used.
So today, we are celebrating the life of Brian and how he touched us.
...But I can't quite suppress that other emotion.
In the 1950's, Adlai Stephenson was a perennial presidential candidate.
After losing another election, a reporter asked how he felt.
He's reported to have responded:
"I'm too old to cry, but it hurts too much to laugh"
He was the first, but not the last, politician I disagreed with.
Over the last week and a half I've confirmed how wrong
Adlai Stephenson was...
...you are never too old to cry.
Good bye my friend.

Brian, Where do I start? I will miss you so much. Who will I give a hard time and who is going to be there to throw it back at me? Thank you for accepting my fiestyness and showing me how to be blunt but tactful all at the same time. I don't usually have emotion to death, but right now I am all chocked up and full of saddness. I will miss all of the stories about life and how we must live it to its fullest. All of your jokes and crazy comments. The stories about all of your trips. You were so real to me. You told it like it was no holds bar, and I will surely miss that. I waited for you to pass my desk today, but you didn't. I can't believe you are gone. Gail, Brian loved you so much. We had many discussions about you and Tuppy. Be strong!! May the Lord Bless And Keep You. Brian, Rest In Peace! I will never forget you!!!!

Brian will much missed. We often spoke about my country Panama and he told me about his upcoming cruise...we spoke about the Canal, I truly hope he did enjoy the Panama Canal and am very touched about his thoughtfulness in buying me a beautiful T-shirt from his trip there. He was always so thoughtful!

I know that words can't express, nor feelings can't say how you should feel at a time like this-but know this one thing, (God has you and your family with in His hands). Jeremiah 29: 11-12 God says, 'For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, & not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12. Then shall ye call upon me, & shall go & pray unto me, & I will hearken unto you.' To the family of Brian, allow FAITH in our Father to hold each & everyone of you up. (Be Blessed all of the time. All of the time Be Blessed)!

It was my good fortune to know Brian from the time he first started at Spherion - in fact I interviewed him. My fondest memories though are of the many lunch breaks we shared laughing and telling stories to lighten the stress of the day. His early and unexpected passing is a shock to all of us and I join everyone in extending my heartfelt condolences to his family - as well as to his Spherion family. See you again, Brian. Save me a seat at the lunch table...

With deepest sympathy, I give to you my most sincere regrets on your loss of your loved one. I was a part of his team for a little over a year and while under his supervision I learned much. Please no that he is resting in a more peaceful and pleasent place where he is in no harm or pain. So smile for he is at peace, and we can only hope to one day rest as peacefully as he is now.

Brian is truly going to be missed. He was my manager for almost 2 years. He always had jokes and something positive to say. I will miss sitting in his office and hearing about his trips to the Carolina. Man how I would love to hear one of those lectures that you seem to give about any and everything. I'm sure everyone will miss seeing those BRIGHT shirts that you wear. They brightened our day. Just kidding. What I will remember most of all is hearing him say "Latosha you're as curious as a cat. You always want to know everything and every little detail."
Gail, take care and be strong. Know that everyone loved Brian and he brought joy to us always even if he had to discipline us. He was still respected. "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted."

To The Keevers Family,
Words can't describe Brian, except that he was a funny, witty and kind hearted person. I looked forward to his daily synopsis at work and looked forward to some of the obnoxious stories he would share. I gave him a bad time about his ring he wore so proudly and how dare I not know that it was an Irish symbol on his ring. Brian, you won't be forgotten.

Brian, you were the first manager that gave me a chance to venture out of the image room, when no other manager wanted to lose me in that position. I will miss you dearly, one regret is that you did not see your little "general"(you always called my son--Zachary Tyler), that always brightened my day when you called Zachary that. Farewell my friend, god is your light now and will show you the way. My condolences for your family and god will always there for you in this time of need. We love you Brian.

To Gail and the family..all of us with Spherion/IBM express our sympathy and wish we could make the hurt go away. Someone has said..
" the only way to take the hurt out of death is to take the love out of it." Everyone who knew Brian enjoyed the relationship..recently he just stopped by my office because he knew I had a task to do to offer suggestions & help.. that was Brian. We will all miss him yet we will all have the opportunity to see him again, our existance did not began at birth nor does it end with death.. Families can be Forever..
