Carmen Tomaiuolo Obituary

Carmen Peter Tomaiuolo, loving and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away at home in Wethersfield surrounded by his family on Wednesday (June 18, 2003). Son of the late Nicholas and Libera Bisceglia Tomaiuolo, Carmen was born on June 1, 1927 in Hartford and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier for 30 years. As a young man he owned an appliance repair shop; he was a natural at fixing anything and would tackle any job for his family and friends. Carmen leaves his wife, Victoria DeLuca Tomaiuolo, with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in September. The focus of their life together was home and family. He also leaves his son, Nicholas Tomaiuolo and grandchildren, Ben and Kristin of Wethersfield, and his son Marc P. Tomaiuolo, wife Linda and grandson, Max of Glastonbury. He is survived by his brothers, Patrick Tomaiuolo and Michael Tomaiuolo and wife Beverly of Hartford, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andrew and Antoinette DeLuca of Wethersfield, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. Although very physically active, Carmen was a sports fan who tolerated his New York Mets and Pittsburgh Steelers, but truly enjoyed UConn Husky Women's basketball. A fixture at Millwoods Park where he loved to watch softball, Carmen also belonged to the Elks Club of Rocky Hill and the Sportmans Club of Hartford. He was a devout Catholic and communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield. Funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Friends may call at the chapel TODAY 4-7 p.m.

Dear Vicky, Pat, Mike, and family: I send my sympathy to you on the death of Carmen, a friend of many at the PO. I remember his kind and gentle ways, and his sense of humor, but mostly, his love of family. Love in Christ, John Fortin
