Carol Hebert Obituary

Dateline: Albany, NY

Carol M. Dugan Hebert, age 83, passed away on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, from injuries sustained in a car accident while traveling home from Cape Cod, MA. Carol was born on July 30th, 1940, in Gloversville (raised in New Hyde Park and Johnstown) and was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Rice) Webster.

Along with her parents, Carol is predeceased by her first husband, Francis Xavier Dugan; her mother-in-law, May Dugan; her beloved brother, Robert (Lucille) Webster; her brothers-in-law, John (Jack) Dugan and John Paul (J.P.) LaForest; her niece, Lisa Webster; and her niece, Patricia Woods.

Carol was the beloved wife of David H. Hebert; loving mother of Jane (Andy) Corbeil, Kathleen Dugan (David) Jimenez (Bolton, CT), James Dugan, Patrick (Johana) Dugan, Erin Dugan, AnnMarie (Mike) Wainwright, and Christopher (Rebecca) Dugan and David's daughters, Renee (Patrick) Wyman, Tara (Bill) Oulette (Buxton, ME), and Elizabeth Hebert. She was a cherished sister-in-law, the loving aunt of several nieces and nephews, and the devoted grandmother of many grandchildren.

Carol graduated from Johnstown High School. Following graduation, she attended Mildred Elly and worked in various secretarial roles over the years when she was not a stay-at-home mom raising her seven children. She later returned to college and received an Associate's Degree from Hudson Valley Community College.

Carol's long and dignified career with the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese as Executive Secretary to Bishop Howard Hubbard was filled with many milestones and tributes. She retired in 2004 after many years of faithful and exemplary service.

Carol married her first husband, Francis Xavier Dugan, on December 13th, 1958, and together they raised their wonderful family in Clifton Park until his passing on November 24th, 1996. Throughout their years together, Carol and Frank enjoyed many years as active parishioners of St. Mary's Church, Cresent, and St. Edward The Confessor, and made many lifelong friends and memories through their involvement with Marriage Encounter. Following Frank's passing, Carol relocated to Albany to be closer to her work at the Pastoral Center.

Carol married David H. Hebert on June 25th, 2004, and together they enjoyed many years of retirement, splitting their time between Colonie, NY and Clearwater, FL. They enjoyed many adventures with friends and family traveling to various destinations across the country throughout their years together.

Carol was passionate about spending time with her numerous friends and beloved family. She regularly enjoyed hosting and attending dinner parties and, afterwards, you would often find her rallying everyone to gather for a fierce round of cards or gearing them up for a competitive game of dice. Her enthusiasm was so contagious that even her teenage grandchildren were excited to play cards/dice with Grandma Carol on a Friday night. She also loved her trips to the beach at the Cape and Clearwater, Florida, and travels to meet her many friends along the way. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Her memory and impact will remain with us forever.

At the time of her passing, Carol was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY, and Espiritu Santo Church, Safety Harbor, FL.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Russ Bergman on Monday, October 2nd, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, NY.

Interment will follow at 1:00 pm in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

On the one year anniversary of Carol´s death, I want to send my heart felt wishes to you all. I knew Carol for just a few short years in Clearwater when my husband and I were also snow birds. Carol and I met at the pool right around Mother´s Day, 2021. My name is also Carol which started the friendship that was such a blessing. I am also in a second marriage and I have 8 children and my husband has 3 daughters. We have 25 grandchildren together. When Carol heard that her numbers were lower than mine, she was quite taken aback! Yes, she was actually laughing at me as the similarities in our lives came together. It was quite a discovery, another Catholic family and second marriage!!! Needless to say Carol and I immediately bonded!!! Our husbands were laughing with us and from then on we were the best of friends.
I cannot even tell you how much I miss Carol!!! It was hard to get through the months in Florida this year without her. We spent time with Dave and together we tried to hold each other up! We did get to meet one of Carol´s daughters & family which was a delight.
I am thankful for Carol´s friendship and God blessed me with her wisdom and insights. May we meet again in heaven!!! Carol Murphy

Dearest family, I am in complete and utter shock to find out that my friend Carol passed away in a car accident in September. I called her number this evening to ask her if she and Dave would like to go to the Irish Dance coming up here at On Top of the World in Clearwater, Florida. She and Dave usually arrive about now. When her phone number was not in service anymore, I was worried. I looked on line to see if I could find a way to contact her. And the obituaries came up. I scanned down and saw her picture, her lovely picture!!! And then read the announcement and I am so sad! I would like to contact Dave or one of her family. I need to talk to one of them and share some wonderful memories and photos I have of her. We were sisters in so many ways. I pray that this message will be responded to by email or please call me at 314-566-7780.

My heart is broken finding out about Carol's tragic passing. Although our time together was at the dental office , I enjoyed our talks and sharing the news of our families lives . She was a kind, compassionate, beautiful and loving woman whom I was always glad to see and considered my friend. I will always remember you Carol! Rest in peace.

Dave and the Hebert/Dugan Families: I am beyond shocked and saddened at this awful news.....yet somehow I am comforted that Carol and Dave were quite obviously devoted to one another and exemplified the real notion of that very notion of being maritally devoted in God´s presence!
I remain prayerful for both families-especially given prior losses endured by BOTH families
I hope to be supportive in any way I can going forward in this mystery we all call life! Hugs to all!

My wife, Nancy, and myself have enjoyed the company of this fine lady. We loved to eat pizza and play cards on
Friday nights with Carol and David. Our hearts go out to David, and just know our rosaries will go out to
Carol. We all know that she is in heaven and filled with warmth and love of Jesus.
