Clifford Saunders Obituary

Clifford R. Saunders, 50, of Williamson Rd, Stafford Springs, died Friday, (November 7, 2003) at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born in Providence, RI, and moved to Stafford Springs at a young age. Cliff worked as a floor coverer for the Connecticut Carpenters Union. He was an avid NASCAR fan and lover of classic cars, especially the El Camino. Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 20 years of marriage, Peg (Hanley) Saunders; two sons, Albert Saunders and Clifford Saunders, Jr., all of Stafford Springs; three daughters and sons-in-law, April and Tony Badala of Coral Springs, FL, Kris and Michael Verny of Stafford Springs, and Tammy and Lee Raymond of Somers; five grandsons, Sean, Nicholas, Nathan, Anthony, and Jason, with a 6th due in February 2004; his parents, Albert Saunders and his wife Terrie of Stafford Springs, and Dorothy (Tanner) Saunders of Westerly, RI; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Donald Coyne of Amston, Joan and Allyn Soucier of Canterbury, and Kate Smith of Westerly, RI; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, step brothers and step sisters, and special friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday November 10, at 1 p.m. at the Stafford Springs Congregational Church, Main St., Stafford Springs, with the Rev. Hector Mendez officiating. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Stafford Springs Congregational Church Diaconte Fund, 3 Main St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076. Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, has care of the arrangements.

Cliff Saunders was a man who had a heart of gold. He was a wonderful father who always had time for his 5 children and 5 grandsons. He will be greatly missed.
