Cloma "Dixie" Wheeler

WHEELER, Cloma "Dixie" (Hodges) Cloma "Dixie" (Hodges) Wheeler, 91, of East Hartford, wife of the late Allen Wheeler, passed away on Sunday, (September 16, 2007) at Maple View Manor. "Dixie" was born in Mount Sterling, AL, daughter of the late John and Flossie Hodges. She lived in Hartford for many years where she and her husband were active members of Central Baptist Church. When they moved to East Hartford they became members of First Baptist Church of Manchester. Cloma retired in 1975 after 25 years at G. Fox & Co. "Dixie" loved to work in her garden and watch things grow. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Wood of Wethersfield and Beverly Mavlouganes and her husband Charles of Glastonbury and Fort Pierce, FL; four grandchildren, Debra Phelan and her husband Dan of Wethersfield, Keith Wood of Manchester, James Mavlouganes and his wife Patricia of Bethany, David Mavlouganes and his wife Darcie of Ludlow, MA. She leaves six great-grandchildren who affectionately knew her as Grandma "Bootsie", Dan and Brian Phelan of Wethersfield, Casey, Aimee and Adam Wood of Wethersfield, and Zachary Mavlouganes of Ludlow, MA. The family would like to thank the staff at Maple View Manor for their wonderful care and kindness. The funeral will be TODAY, September 19, 11 a.m. at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
