Daniel Derohanian Obituary

Daniel 'Danny' Derohanian, 61, of North Port, FL, formerly of East Hartford, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Daniel was born in Hartford, CT on September 3, 1958, son of Mary Ann (Livingstone) Derohanian and the late Charles Derohanian. He was raised in East Hartford, CT, and graduated from George J. Penney High School, Class of 1977. He later settled to raise his family in East Hartford, a place he loved and cherished. For over 30 years, Daniel worked as a proud union sprinkler fitter for Local 696 until his retirement and move to North Port, FL in 2014. During his retirement, he worked part-time at Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club in North Port and quickly became a smiling face all members could count on. Daniel's children were the light of his life. He loved the frequent gatherings when they came down to FL, and enjoyed his visits to Kansas City. Daniel also enjoyed listening to and seeing live music, going to sporting events, the beach, and spending time with friends and family. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his ability to make everyone in the room laugh. He was a wonderful and loving father, family man, son, brother, and uncle and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his three children, Kevin, Kelsey, and Courtney Derohanian, all of Kansas City, MO, Daniel is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Derohanian of East Hartford, CT; his brother, Joseph of South Windsor, CT; his brother David, of Granby, CT; his sister, Lori Michalek and her husband Douglas of East Hartford, CT; and the mother of his children, Debbie Henegar, of Seminole, FL. He is also survived by his nephews, Tyler, Cory, and Griffin, as well as many extended family members and the Calderone family. He was predeceased by his beloved father, Charles Derohanian on August 11, 2019. Daniel's family will receive relatives and friends at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, CT on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., followed by a luncheon celebrating Daniel's life at The Gallery, 141 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT from 2:30 -5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sherwood Autism Center (where his daughter Kelsey works) at Sherwood Autism Center, Attn: Development Department, 8030 Ward Parkway Plaza, Kansas City, MO 64114 or online at www.sherwoodcenter.org, or to Oak Hill (where his brother David lives) at Oak Hill, Attn: Development Department, 120 Holcomb St., Hartford, CT 06112 or online at oakhill.org. Cliff and I are just devastated to hear of Danny's passing . He was a dear friend to both of us . He always made the time to stay with us every time we vacationed in Florida ( needless to say it was always the highlight of our vacations ! )
You ALWAYS knew when Danny was in a room - all you had to do was follow where the laughter was coming from .
Danny's wit , laughter and friendship will stay with us forever in our hearts . He was a special and wonderful guy . Always smiling and loving life .
Kevin, Kelsey and Courtney were his pride and joy and they are blessed to have had him for their Dad .
I know that there are more chuckles in Heaven now because of Danny ... But so so many broken hearts left behind ....
We will miss you more than words can say my friend.
Peace and Love until we meet again.
Your friends - Cliff and Monica
