Dan was simply one of a kind and one of the best. A lot of us knew him through public housing and enjoyed his Irish "whisper" and great laugh which could break glass.............a true gentlemen in every sense of the word..............99 years and I am not surprised. He often told the story about being denied life insurance years ago due to his health and then would go on to say that he called the agent every year he lived to say, "ha - I gotcha" (and he certainly did). He will be missed but his family, as I am sure they are, should be very, very proud...........I had many good conversations and more than a few drinks with Dan and I will never forget him.............

I met Mr. Lyons as an 11 year old playing Little League Baseball in 1957 and knew him ever since. He was everywhere in Wethersfield especially at sporting events at WHS and was always the same cheerful, gracious and engaging person. A wealth of knowledge about anything and what a memory. Finally got old enough to call him Dan. You can't replace guys like Dan---

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

My prayers will be offered for the loss of a one of the finest men I knew. Mr. Lyons always offered a kind word with the smile that lit up the room.
